The services which I provide include advice and representation.
The advice can involve a face-to-face meeting or telephone discussion (a.k.a. "conference"); providing a formal written advice; or a combination.
Representation includes representation at court hearings of all descriptions (including Tribunal hearings), and sometimes regulatory hearings.
There is some work (specifically, litigation) which I cannot conduct. For this, you will need a solicitor. If I think that you need a solicitor, I will say so.
I'm always happy to quote a fixed fee for an initial consultation.
The Bar Standards Board has provided some guidance on Direct Access (also known as Public Access) work for laypeople: it is available here.
